When swapping pairs should one person remain with the task?

Do pairs work better on new tasks they can work together to understand or is it easier when someone in the pair is familiar with the expectations?

We have seen that details can be lost if the whole pair swaps out. This will depend on the complexity of the task and how well your process captures all the items to be implemented ("verifies" or "conditions of satisfaction").

We keep one person from the pair with the task and have other people swap in and out over time. Ideally the task only lasts from a few hours to one or two days at the maximum. Swapping others in gets additional opinions/reviews of the implementation, keeps everyone energized, and distributes system knowledge.
